Microbial Whole Genome Sequencing Overview
Microbial whole genome sequencing (WGS) impacts a wide-range of application areas including, but not limited to food safety and environmental research, antimicrobial resistance genes and mechanisms, and vaccine development. It’s a method to sequence the entire genome of a microbe (bacteria, fungus, or other microbial genomes). Compared to traditional approaches, such as PCR, microbial WGS provides more comprehensive information.

Complete Genomics provides end-to-end microbial whole genome sequencing for culture isolates from sample extraction through analysis. After extraction, users can prepare sequencing libraries through either manual or various throughput automation workflows. Once the sequencing libraries are constructed, they can be sequenced on a DNBSEQ-G99 benchtop sequencer that provides fast, high-quality, flexible, and cost-effective performance.
After sequencing, users have the option of either analyzing their data with the Platform of Microorganisms Fast Identification and Assembly Evolution (PFI Pro) or their own solution.
