Spatial transcriptomics has emerged as a powerful tool for investigating complex tissues. However, most spatial transcriptomics platforms were originally optimized for animal systems, where tissue dissociation, cell morphology, and transcriptomic structure differ substantially from those in plants. Consequently, applying spatial biology to plant systems frequently entails compromises concerning resolution, transcriptome coverage, or biological interpretability.

In this webinar, Dr. Shahid Mukhtar, Professor in the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry at Clemson University, will present the complete Stereo-seq spatial transcriptomics workflow applied across diverse plant tissues, including Arabidopsis leaves, duckweed fronds, soybean embryos and root nodules, and sunflower inflorescences.

This workflow, developed and validated in his laboratory, enables high-resolution, whole-transcriptome spatial profiling in plants while preserving native tissue architecture, supporting discovery-driven spatial biology without compromising structural integrity.
