Description
The Technical Marketing Manager –will be responsible for the creation of technical product marketing materials with an emphasis on data and data analysis that directly support sales and growth of the Complete Genomics business. The candidate must be able to take complex technical information and summarize it in the form of whitepapers, PowerPoint presentations, and other technical materials for customers, sales, partners and prospects.
Responsibilities
- Technical marketing expert – Provide technical marketing support to the sales and support teams in the form of slides, whitepapers and technical documents.
- Give scientific presentations in various forums including industry conferences. Write copy (or assist in developing content) for customer-facing marketing collateral including web pages, product and solutions datasheets, product brochures, press releases, blog posts, etc.
- Support the selling process – Communicate the technical details of the products to the sales team and develop sales tools that support the selling process of Complete Genomics’ products.
- Product launch – Work with the relevant Product Managers to plan and execute the launch of new products and releases. Help manage the cross-functional implementation of the launch plan.
- Sales training – Conduct appropriate sales trainings for the sales team to ensure that they have thorough knowledge of the product and can effectively overcome objections.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals or other related materials. Often this involves summarizing relevant publications for dissemination to our sales and support teams.
Qualifications/Required Skills
- Ability to effectively present information internally to sales and technical teams and externally to the scientific community. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate and discuss technical information on genetics, genomic studies, sequence analysis/bioinformatics and sequencing applications.
- Ability to independently interact with relevant internal technical groups (e.g. product development) to gain required technical knowledge and expertise depending on the task and required deliverables.
- Strong time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Aggressive, hard-working, eager to learn, and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- Must be willing to travel up to 25%of the time.
- Masters or PhD in genetics, bioinformatics or related scientific/technical discipline and 2+ years of experience in a marketing, development, research or similar role. Specified years of experience are highly desired, but not necessarily required, depending on candidate’s background and training.
- Hands-on research and/or commercial experience with microarrays, DNA sequencing, genotyping or similar genomic products is highly desirable.
- Experience with bioinformatics tools and analysis is essential.
