Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations including maintaining the General Ledger
- Draft, manage and publish the monthly accounting calendar and take responsibility for an effective and efficient general ledger close
- Coordinate with SEC Reporting Manager
- Researching technical accounting matters for compliance with US GAAP
- Providing analysis and footnote information for SEC filings
- Manage the external audit requests and answer initial questions
- Design, develop and streamline SOX controls and processes as necessary
- Propose and prepare accounting policies and procedures
- Review/prepare monthly account reconciliations for all general ledger accounts and validate accuracy and substance of schedules supporting the reconciliations; prepare/assist with sales commissions calculations
- Supervise the Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions, ensuring their transactional integrity
- Manage the full cycle of the revenue recognition processes—ensure revenue is recorded in the financial statements in accordance with GAAP including preparation and analysis of all revenue information and integrity of the backlog
- Provide support for federal & state income tax returns and work with tax advisors
- Manage the maintenance and enhancements of the accounting related modules in the Epicor accounting system including coordinating and testing system upgrades and modifications. Identify and manage the resolution of ongoing functional and technical issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA preferred
- Ideally, 4+ years public accounting experience and 4+ years industry experience, preferably in a manufacturing industry
- Cost accounting experience a plus
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience
- Ability to perform in a dynamic environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with Epicor software a plus
- High degree of problem solving ability and critical thinking
- Ability to exercise independent direction and judgment
- Up-to-date understanding of SEC reporting requirements
