Assistant Controller (11-GA-083)

Reports To:  Corporate Controller
Department:  Finance & Administration 

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations including maintaining the General Ledger
  • Draft, manage and publish the monthly accounting calendar and take responsibility for an effective and efficient general ledger close
  • Coordinate with SEC Reporting Manager
    • Researching technical accounting matters for compliance with US GAAP
    • Providing analysis and footnote information for SEC filings
  • Manage the external audit requests and answer initial questions
  • Design, develop and streamline SOX controls and processes as necessary
  • Propose and prepare accounting policies and procedures
  • Review/prepare  monthly account reconciliations for all general ledger accounts and validate accuracy and substance of schedules supporting the reconciliations;  prepare/assist with sales commissions calculations
  • Supervise the Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions, ensuring their transactional integrity
  • Manage the full cycle of the revenue recognition processes—ensure revenue is recorded in the financial statements in accordance with GAAP including preparation and analysis of all revenue information and integrity of the backlog
  • Provide support for federal & state income tax returns and work with tax advisors
  • Manage the maintenance and enhancements of the accounting related modules in the Epicor accounting system including coordinating and testing system upgrades and modifications. Identify and manage the resolution of ongoing functional and technical issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • Ideally, 4+ years public accounting experience and 4+ years industry experience, preferably in a manufacturing industry
  • Cost accounting experience a plus
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to perform in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with Epicor software a plus
  • High degree of problem solving ability and critical thinking
  • Ability to exercise independent direction and judgment
  • Up-to-date understanding of SEC reporting requirements

Manufacturing Product Cost Analyst (11-PD-028)

Description

The Manufacturing Product Cost Analyst is responsible for supporting all of the product costing activities at Complete Genomics. This would include standard cost updates and maintenance, method of manufacture review, labor and overhead rate development and inventory valuation.

Responsibilities

Product Costing

  • Responsible for standard cost updates and maintenance in Epicor
  • Ensure that methods of manufacture changes are costed, reviewed and approved
  • Assist in the establishment of standard costs for both purchase and manufactured parts
  • Responsible for labor and overhead rate development
  • Develop tools and processes to ensure that inventory is accurately valued

Reporting

  • Support the monthly close process including accruals, inventory reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Responsible for establishing, reviewing and maintaining estimated efforts allocations to manufacturing work centers and development cost centers.
  • Assist in the establishment of cost targets and provide periodic reports to track progress to those targets
  • Develop tools and processes to improve the gathering and preparation of financial information to ensure that all submission requirements are met.

Strategic Analysis

  • Ensure that business decisions make good business sense and are based on the appropriate level of financial analysis
  • Proactive communication of issues and opportunities to the management team

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Finance or Accounting is required; MBA is a plus
  • 5-7 years cost accounting experience in a manufacturing setting is highly desired
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; must work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to think and act independently
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong systems skills: Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, experience with an ERP system a must, Epicor knowledge a plus
